Creative Wall Coverings
Supplies: You'll need fabric remnants that compliment one another in color and/or pattern, a staple gun, a spool of ribbon, seam binding or decorating tape in a color that compliments the fabrics, and a hot glue gun. Instructions: Begin by cutting the fabric into long strips, approximately 6 inches wide. Beginning 6 inches above the floor, turn the fabric so
that the "back" of the fabric is facing out. Staple the fabric to the
wall, pleating it every few inches, and making certain to staple the
pleats. When you reach the end of the fabric, simple take another strip,
and continue in the Begin stapling another row approximately 4 inches above the first row, so that the fabric hangs over and covers the staples on the first row. Repeat until the entire wall is covered. When you reach the ceiling, cover the last row of staples by gluing the ribbon or seam binding over them, flush with the ceiling. Placing the fabric with its "back" facing out creates a soft, faded quality that lends itself to a cottage style decor. Don't be worry about cutting the fabrics to identical lengths - a little variety adds to the hand-crafted look.
