Menus and Programs
You know
those big, fat books of wallpaper samples that you might have lying
in your garage if you've wallpapered recently? Or just check with a
local wallpaper store - they'd probably be glad to get rid of last year's
samples.
Supplies: In addition to the wallpaper samples, you'll
need a computer (or beautiful handwriting!), parchment paper or stationary
quality paper, glue, ribbon or satin string, and a small hole punch
Instructions:
Begin by cutting strips of wallpaper as wide as, and twice as long as
your finished product will be. For the menus, I cut strips 14"
x 4", for a final product of 7" x 4", and for the program,
as it was folded in half booklet-style, the strips were 22" x 2
1/2" for a finished product of 5 1/2" x 2 1/2."
Lightly brush the back of the wallpaper sample with glue, then fold
in half, making a nice, clean crease.
For the menu and table numbers: I printed the menu
and table numbers on parchment paper, which I cut to
3" x 5 1/2" with a larger margin at the top. Placing the parchment
paper on the wallpaper, punch two small holes in the top margin. Then,
loop satin string through the holes, coming from the back, tie a square
knot in the string, and loop the loose ends back through the holes,
tucking them under the loop on the back, and trimming the excess.
For the program: I printed the program on several
strips of stationary-quality and collated them to create a small booklet.
Centering the booklet on the wallpaper, fold the entire thing in half,
and punch two small holes at the crease. Thread ribbon through these
holes, tie a simple square knot, and trim the excess.
