Brooke and Bryan's
Wedding
My daughter Brooke was recently married to her wonderful
husband Bryan Crane. As you can imagine, I had a great time making their
wedding beautiful. She was married at the Ocean Trails Golf Club, overlooking
the ocean, and the day was spectacular.
We
hosted a bridal luncheon the day before, and under the guidance of the
brilliant flower designer Cindy Smith, we enlisted friends and family
to help with the floral arrangement - everyone wore aprons emblazoned
with "Brooke's Bridal Brigade" and had a marvelous time. It
was great way to include guests from all over the country and it made
them feel like they were truly a part of Brooke's very special day!
You should have seen the tables at the reception! I found
an assortment of blue and white vases (for practically nothing), which
we used for Cindy's arrangements of hydrangeas and tulips. We grouped
a few
vases on each table, using beautifully weathered old books to create
levels, and added brass candlesticks, votives and prefectly ripened
pears for accent. Using the computer, we printed the name of each guest
on parchment paper, then attached the name to a pear, using a tiny brass
tack. Voila - unique placecards!
A book of wallpaper samples was
the inspiration for easy-to-make, and very elegant menus, programs and
table numbers. I was thrilled to find leftovers of the exact wallpaper
used in the room where the recption was held. Be sure to check out the
directions for this very simple project - and please write
me and send photos, if you're inspired by any of these ideas for
your next event!
